Job Description

At Bosch Research in Pittsburgh, we are seeking a forward-thinking research intern to explore the development of autonomous AI agents that can perceive, reason, and act in real-world environments. This role offers the opportunity to design and implement agentic AI systems that integrateΒ multimodal sensing, generative AI, and decision-making modelsΒ to enable intelligent automation in dynamic environments.

This internship will focus onΒ creating a demonstrator in a real-world setting, where AI agents will autonomously interpret and respond to sensor data. The work will involve sensing, anomaly detection, and action recognition, leveraging insights from cutting-edgeΒ multimodal AI techniques.

Β

Responsibilities:

  • Develop AI agents thatΒ interpret and respondΒ to sensor data, visual inputs, and other signal-based modalities.
  • Evaluate system performanceΒ across diverse benchmarks and real-world conditions.
  • Show a proof-of-concept demo.
  • Document findings and contribute to high-impact publications in leading AI conferences and journals.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled as aΒ PhD studentΒ in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong foundation inΒ deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AIΒ with expertise inΒ computer vision (CV), natural language processing (NLP), or multimodal AI.
  • Proven track record ofΒ research contributions,Β including publications in top AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP).
  • 2+ years of programming experience inΒ Python, with proficiency in frameworks likeΒ PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desired:

  • Experience inΒ signal-based data processingΒ (e.g.,Β Wi-Fi CSI, audio data, or time-series sensor data).
  • Familiarity withΒ agentic AI principles, reinforcement learning, and decision-making models.
  • Experience withΒ anomaly detection and action recognitionΒ in multimodal AI applications.
  • Experience in fine-tuningΒ Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and Large Language Models (LLMs)Β for autonomous AI agents.
  • Knowledge ofΒ multimodal learningΒ for integrating diverse sensor data into decision-making pipelines.

Demonstrated ability toΒ innovate and develop AI-driven automation systemsΒ in real-world environments.
