POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to develop, evaluate, improve, and document the manufacturing process for complex composite aero structures. This includes management and definition of the manufacturing plans and methods; including tooling methods and processes, equipment methods and processes, automation, composite manufacturing processes, and assembly to align production to customer requirements. Manufacturing Engineer Lvl 2 is hands-on, interacting with shop floor personnel and with engineering and manufacturing groups to ensure lean plans are created and implemented. Manufacturing Engineer Lvl 2 will spend time mentoring less experienced engineering team members to aid in team development and cross training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and implements process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments
  • Develops manufacturing build plan
  • Analyzes manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and output
  • Collaborates with suppliers, Tooling Engineer, and NPD/Manufacturing Engineers regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods.
  • Works closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement manufacturing build plan and create technical training for employees
  • Designs and develops manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures & tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost
  • Creates and maintains accurate documentation of tool drawings, design concepts, shop orders, and concepts in accordance with the manufacturing engineering standards
  • Provides engineering support in production environment to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems
  • Participates in and occasionally leads technology and process optimizations to drive continuous improvement on quality and safety, and to reduce production costs and flows
  • Supports company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and manufacturing practices
  • Performs production readiness evaluation and producibility assessment of all engineering changes.
  • Part time mentoring of less experienced engineering team members.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated success in production within a fast-paced, technically focused environment is essential. Must be hands on and capable of producing, managing, and implementing manufacturing processes.
  • Must be results-oriented and demonstrate analytical thinking, innovation, flexibility in dealing with changing and ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex
  • Demonstrated success working in highly collaborative multi-function environment, with a track record of accomplishment with measurable business impact and managing within a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated success implementing lean initiatives and standard operating procedures within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent project management skills including successful leadership of multiple projects from planning phase through completion.
  • Excellent management skills including superb communication, delivery of results, consultative skills, partnership skills and team building.
